In this paper, we develop an accurate and efficient Haar wavelet solution of Fisher’s equation, a prototypical reaction-diffusion equation. The solutions of Fisher’s equation are characterized by propagating fronts that can be very steep for large values of the reaction rate coefficient. There is an ongoing effort to better adapt Haar wavelet methods to the solution of differential equations with solutions that resemble shock waves or fronts typical of hyperbolic partial differential equations. Moreover the use of Haar wavelets is found to be accurate, simple, fast, flexible, convenient, small computation costs and computationally attractive.  相似文献

It has long been recognized that many direct parallel tridiagonal solvers are only efficient for solving a single tridiagonal equation of large sizes, and they become inefficient when naively used in a three-dimensional ADI solver. In order to improve the parallel efficiency of an ADI solver using a direct parallel solver, we implement the single parallel partition (SPP) algorithm in conjunction with message vectorization, which aggregates several communication messages into one to reduce the communication costs. The measured performances show that the longest allowable message vector length (MVL) is not necessarily the best choice. To understand this observation and optimize the performance, we propose an improved model that takes the cache effect into consideration. The optimal MVL for achieving the best performance is shown to depend on number of processors and grid sizes. Similar dependence of the optimal MVL is also found for the popular block pipelined method.  相似文献

We extended the (G′/G)-expansion method to two well-known nonlinear differential-difference equations, the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the Toda lattice equation, for constructing traveling wave solutions. Discrete soliton and periodic wave solutions with more arbitrary parameters, as well as discrete rational wave solutions, are revealed. It seems that the utilized method can provide highly accurate discrete exact solutions to NDDEs arising in applied mathematical and physical sciences.  相似文献

Variational iteration method has been successfully implemented to handle linear and nonlinear differential equations. The main property of the method is its flexibility and ability to solve nonlinear equations accurately and conveniently. In this paper, first, a general framework of the variational iteration method is presented for analytic treatment of differential equations of fractional order where the fractional derivatives are described in Caputo sense. Second, the new framework is used to compute approximate eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions for boundary value problems with fractional derivatives. Numerical examples are tested to show the pertinent features of this method. This approach provides a new way to investigate eigenvalue problems with fractional order derivatives.  相似文献

A Nyström method for the discretization of thermal layer potentials is proposed and analyzed. The method is based on considering the potentials as generalized Abel integral operators in time, where the kernel is a time dependent surface integral operator. The time discretization is the trapezoidal rule with a corrected weight at the endpoint to compensate for singularities of the integrand. The spatial discretization is a standard quadrature rule for surface integrals of smooth functions. We will discuss stability and convergence results of this discretization scheme for second-kind boundary integral equations of the heat equation. The method is explicit, does not require the computation of influence coefficients, and can be combined easily with recently developed fast heat solvers.  相似文献

In this article, the authors consider the collapse solutions of Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrdinger equation iψt + 1/2 △ψ - 1/2 ω2|x|2ψ + |ψ|2ψ = 0, x ∈ R2, which models the Bose-Einstein condensate with attractive interactions. The authors establish the lower bound of collapse rate as t → T . Furthermore, the L2-concentration property of the radially symmetric collapse solutions is obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, the Tricomi problem and the generalized Tricomi problem for a quasilinear mixed type equation are studied. The coefficients of the mixed type equation are discontinuous on the line, where the equation changes its type. The existence of solution to these problems is proved. The method developed in this paper can be used to study more difficult problems for nonlinear mixed type equations arising in gas dynamics.  相似文献

In this paper, a two-scale higher-order finite element discretization scheme is proposed and analyzed for a Schroedinger equation on tensor product domains. With the scheme, the solution of the eigenvalue problem on a fine grid can be reduced to an eigenvalue problem on a much coarser grid together with some eigenvalue problems on partially fine grids. It is shown theoretically and numerically that the proposed two-scale higher-order scheme not only significantly reduces the number of degrees of freedom but also produces very accurate approximations.  相似文献

We consider a hyperbolic–parabolic singular perturbation problem for a quasilinear hyperbolic equation of Kirchhoff type with dissipation weak in time. The purpose of this paper is to give time‐decay convergence estimates of the difference between the solutions of the hyperbolic equation above and those of the corresponding parabolic equation, together with the unique existence of the global solutions of the hyperbolic equation above.
